The Houghton Star is the student-produced newspaper at Houghton College in Houghton, NY. For 100 years, the Star has served as a medium for the expression of student thought and as a quality publication of significant Houghton College news, regional news, and events.
The newspaper publishes weekly, and distributes 1,000 copies around the Houghton College campus on Fridays during the academic year. Exceptions to publication are holidays, semester breaks and exam periods.

Mission Statement: The mission of the Houghton Star is to preserve and promote the values of dialogue, transparency and integrity that have characterized Houghton College since its inception. This will be done by serving as a medium for the expression of student thought and as a quality publication of significant campus news, Houghton area news, and events.
Operation: The Houghton Star is a limited public forum whose content is determined exclusively by its student editors at Houghton College. Information presented in its newspaper and this Web site is in no way controlled by Houghton College administration, faculty or staff. Editorial content reflects the opinions of the author, not the Houghton Star or Houghton College.
